What do these three have in common? Today, all three could be found at (appropriately) the Boston Common! Read on to find out how this truly fascinating situation came to pass.
**Knitters**

As Becky had [previously mentioned](http://prwdot.org/archives/2005/09/boston_knit_out.html), we went in to Boston today to attend the [Boston Knit Out](http://www.bostonknitout.com/). The Knit Out (And Crochet Too) is an event where local crafters and vendors can put their skills and wares on display. There were numerous stations set up around the Common where people were giving knit and crochet lessons, demonstrating techniques, showing off fashions, and meeting other like-minded folk. Becky and I looked around for a while and then she sat down to do some knitting while I walked around and took some photos.

Today, it just so happened that the [Massachusetts Citizens for Life](http://www.masscitizensforlife.org/) were holding their annual [Respect Life Walk](http://www.masscitizensforlife.org/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=257), which started at the Common. There were a ton of pro-life groups out in force, with stands set up along the walkways of the Common. One of the featured speakers was [Boston Archbishop Sean P. O’Malley](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sean_O%27Malley).
There was also a counter-protest staged just outside of the Common by various pro-choice groups, including [NOW](http://www.now.org/) and the Coalition to Defend Reproductive Rights. This was a smaller group, but they were nonetheless vocal and enthusiastic in their protests. They certainly had some colorful slogans and banners.
**Rock Stars**
fff|ggg|knit_out_pro_life_pro_choice/P1050066|Bono!|ggg|fff
In what was the most unexpected turn of events, I witnessed [Bono](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bono), of [U2](http://www.u2.com/) fame sticking his head (and most of his torso) out of the sunroof of a limo as it went around the corner of Charles and Beacon streets (right through the crowd of pro-choice protestors)! I actually got some surprisingly good shots of him as he rode past. In fact, he was looking directly at me as I took the shots… perhaps because I was the only one who looked like I recognized him. I think that very few people recognized him as the limo drove past, what with all of the commotion from the protestors. [U2](http://www.u2.com/) is in town for concerts at the [TD Banknorth Garden](http://www.tdbanknorthgarden.com/), so I imagine Bono was just taking a grand tour of the city before getting down to business. Wow. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. I don’t think I could have even got such a good shot if I was lucky enough to be at their concert!
Update
It wasn’t really Bono, unfortunately. I was [bamboozled](http://prwdot.org/archives/2005/10/bamboozled.html)!
**All In All**
A very interesting day with some very interesting sights and sounds. Check out the full (http://gallery.prwdot.org/knit_out_pro_life_pro_choice).
Thanks to [Universal Hub](http://www.universalhub.com/) for the [mention](http://www.universalhub.com/node/2046). It was there that I had originally heard about the [mashup](http://www.universalhub.com/node/2018).
That’s hilarious about seeing Bono. 🙂
Actually, that’s not Bono. It’s a look-alike promoting the concert, he was featured on channel 7 News at 6 PM tonight….
He is a dead-ringer though.
