Full-text RSS?

Currently, we offer an RSS feed with excerpts from our ***blog entries|http://prwdot.org/blog.xml***, and an RSS feed with the ***most recent comments|http://prwdot.org/comments.xml*** for all entries on the blog. Would anyone be interested in a full-text RSS feed for our blog, which would include both the complete text of blog entries *and* the complete text of the comments on each entry?

Feeds can be used to read new items from blogs and news sites in one central application, such as a web-based aggregator like ***Bloglines|http://www.bloglines.com/***, or a desktop aggregator like ***NetNewsWire|http://ranchero.com/netnewswire/***.

I’d love to see a full text version without comments. The only problem with the comments is NetNewsWire marks the post as unread every time a new comment is posted. That’s too much since I’m following abt 70 blogs this way. But that’s just me.

I actually added a comment count to my standard RSS feed a while back in order to force-update people’s feeds in case they weren’t subscribing to my comments feed. In retrospect, I suppose it shouldn’t really be up to me to decide for others whether they want to know about comments. I guess it would be a good little project to make a wider variety of feeds available so that people could decide how much or how little information they wanted.

It doesn’t much matter to me whether you have full post or an exerpt for your feed… But offering a variety of options might be a good option. Especially regarding whether people want to see if there have been updated comments or not…

Personally, I agree with Ben, I don’t particularly care for a feed to update every time a comment is posted. However, there are times where I want to see updates on comments of specific posts. I know WP offers the option to only subscribe to a feed for comments on a specific posts, I have no idea if MT has a similiar feature… I ended up adding the “subscribe to comments for this post my email” feature for my friends who don’t use RSS (and are used to the way LJ notifies for comments)… I know there’s a similar plugin for that for MT out there somewehere….

But anyway, that’s my two cents… I should go back to doing homework now.
