Leaving

And in the blink of an eye, we are back off Island. It is always hard to leave, but so nice to know that we will be back soon.

Tomorrow we’ll sweep the sand out of our car, and wash the swimsuits and settle back into city life. But tonight we fall asleep with salty hair and sunscreeny skin, dreaming of the smell of beach roses.

All Set Up

My parents hosted an amazing cook out dinner on the eve of my brother’s wedding. The food was fantastic, the yard and porch were perfect for chatting and the evening went off without a hitch.

Whale Tail

We spent some time today at the New Bedford Whaling National Historic Site. It was an interesting visit as the site covers both the whaling history and the immigrant history in the city. We explored the whaling routes, watched the NPS movie and strolled the streets near the waterfront.

There was definitely more to see and do than we saw or did. We’ll look forward to another visit sometime in the future. Until then, we’ll look back on this photo to remember how big the tail of a sperm whale is. Both girls were surprised at the size!
