Slash

Found this photo on my phone tonight, taken by Esme. It shows her lego pool, with accessories, and, in the foreground an invention that had her running to me shouting,

“Mama! Check this out! It is my new Sauna-slash-plane!”

After showing me how the sauna/plane converts from one use to the other, she scurried off and, apparently, took a few pictures for posterity.

Get your pedal on!

While hiking in the woods this afternoon, I came across this little sign. Intrigued, I came home and looked it up.

Did you know that tomorrow, May 6th, is National Bike to School Day? I did not. Do any of my readers participate?

The sign, and the idea of thousands of little people riding their bikes to school tomorrow, made me very happy! I don’t go to school, but I do go to the Y. Tomorrow I’ll be biking there instead of driving!

Selfie +

Esme and I attended our friends’ dance recital today and commemorated it with a selfie before the curtains opened.

It wasn’t until I got home and reviewed the photo did I notice the cutest little photobomber I ever did see!

Their Little Sweeties

We had a busy little dinner tonight with our sweet friends before they move to a more Southern clime.

The girls will miss their little babies. They visited them as hours old newborns and have loved loving on them in church. They will miss their babysitting games and snuggles.

We’re so glad to be a part of a community that loves and trusts our girls and that welcomes them into the most precious parts of their lives.

Designer

For a year now, Esme has been drawing dress designs on any scrap of paper she can get her hands on. Armed with a file folder full of drawings and a free book coupon from Shutterfly, we sat today and arranged them all together.

She was so proud of each and every drawing and was able to give me detailed explanations of each one, even the ones she had drawn months ago. Her eyes lit up seeing them all in book form and I can’t wait for it to arrive in the mail.

Who knows if she’ll continue with her love of fashion, but it is fun to watch her experiment with it now.

Mama’s

These are not the best scissors in the house. They aren’t the newest or the sharpest, either.

They are, however, the only pair of full size, non child, non fancy-blade, scissors I could find in the house today. And I know we own a ton of scissors.

Determined to have a pair of scissors I can find when I need them and not have to climb under the couch or look behind everything on the art desk or wind up using a tiny sized pair just to cut something, I labeled them and hung them, not quite out of reach of little hands, just above my sewing room counter.

Next step is a chain, a la bank pens.
