Tinies

This one keeps sharpening her crafting teeth on ever more varied projects. Today’s offering is a small menagerie of small creatures sculpted from Sculpey clay. All designed and made from pictures in her mind.

Please note that the dolphin is in its own swimming pool, water included.

You Have Died of Dysentery

We got this card version of Oregon Trail as a Christmas gift. Esme and I finally broke it in today, later joined by two friends. Our first journey was cut short by our oxen dying. Our second game saw two players die of dysentery, but the remaining two rallied and pushed forward, making it to the Willamette Valley. It was definitely fun, but our friend Jay and I had an interesting job explaining Typhoid, Dysentery, Measles and Cholera to our two 6yos and an 8yo!

The Square Root of Awesome

Esme and Grandpa Lowe share a birthday week and when I woke up this morning I realized that they had a mathematical connection this year as well. Esme, turning 8 tomorrow, is exactly the square root age of Grandpa, who turned 64 earlier this week.

And so, Esme made a square cake and decorated it with a timely equation, as you do.

Outrunning Sunset

I had some time to kill in Ipswich on Friday evening while Esme was at an event. With the sun quickly setting I hopped out of the car and headed out on the trail. I covered a mile and a quarter on the trails at Appleton Farms and was back to the car just after sunset. It was a cold winter evening, but felt good to be out in the fresh air!
