A Familiar Scene

three hundred and fourteen

As much as I try to keep the photos here fresh and interesting, it seems that our lives do follow comfortable routines. The new and exciting are always welcome, but it is those little, familiar moments that keep us rooted in our community.

Here’s one moment that makes me smile, Esme and Mr Kenny. See them here, back in February.

Bit by Bit

three hundred and eleven

As most of the household essentials have ben unpacked, I am finally getting around to unpacking and organizing my ‘sewing room’ (currently a shared computer/sewing/art room).

I was pleased to get my little corner of the room looking a bit more ship shape, but you’ll have to trust me that a quarter turn to the left would show a completely different scene. The heap of paints, paper, crayons, scissors, tape and stickers that sits atop the girls’ art desk will have to wait another day!

Falling (asleep) Up

three hundred and seven

Guest photographer today: Papa

Peter took this incredible photo of Catherine. I took a few mediocre photos today and, quite honestly, none of them were worth putting here. I would like to think that this is the picture I would have taken, had I come across this scene myself. She finally has no trouble falling asleep thanks to her brand new memory foam mattress that I got her from leesa.com. I honestly wish I would have bought myself one too because it is so comfy. Whenever I  lay her down to sleep, I want to just stay there with her and sleep.

Serendipity Cafe

three hundred and six

We had the wonderful pleasure of attending the grand opening of the Serendipity Cafe in Maynard, Ma today.

{Above, please see Esme totally enjoying my “Appley Laura” smoothie.}

My dear, dear childhood friend Laura, and her husband Johnny, are taking their dreams by the horn and have taken their bakery business out of their home kitchen and into downtown Maynard. I couldn’t be more proud of them or more happy for them!

{If you want to read more about their venture, here’s a great article.}

We loved our food and drink, the cafe was beautiful and I imagine we might be needing to find more and more reasons to find ourselves ‘in the neighborhood’ in the future!

November 1

We ventured downtown tonight, on this first day post-Halloween. Dinner at Howling Wolf, dessert at Orange Leaf. Surprisingly warm and pleasant night for a walk!
